Library Infrastructure

With user-centric approach, the new Library has many new areas dedicated to the diverse needs of its variety of users. With consideration to users’ main requirements, the Circulation counter and Baggage Counter are readily accessible even before entering the Library. Also before the entrance, there is the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) room where 5 computers are kept so that users can search online the fully computerized Library collection to find the particular required title. Then right at the entrance is the open Periodicals section displaying all the current periodicals with seating capacity of 16. Next is the separate Teachers’ Room where the faculty can have a quiet atmosphere helpful for studies. The newly designed Reading Room is the main contributor to larger and more Reading spaces within the Library. Keeping focus on optimum utilization of available space, Library has turned one corridor into the Reference section. There is natural illumination as well as ventilation through its wide and tall windows.

The seating space of 12 in this section is aptly arranged adjacent to these windows; while the cupboards containing special reference collection are lined against the walls. Carrying further on the same theme of optimum space utilization, the Library has obtained the constructed-per-requirement Compact-stacking mobile Cupboards. The Compactors Storage system installed in the Library has increased the storage capacity by 70%. This has been achieved not only by using this system but also by utilizing the maximum height available by having 13 ft high units. The entire system is custom-made and designed for faster movement as well as easy retrieval of books. Also, whole Library is under CCTV surveillance to ensure better security.
