HERBAL RESEARCH LAB
Herbal Research Laboratory (HRL) was established in the year 1983, is a fully equipped instrumentation centre recognized by ICMR, Government of India. The laboratory specializes in industrial application of chromatographic techniques like HPTLC and HPLC. Herbal research lab has been the centre for carrying out major research projects funded by agencies like University Grants Commission, Department of Biotechnology, National Medicinal Plants Board, Department of Science and technology, AYUSH. Currently the lab is working on a government funded project entitled, ‘Evaluation of a novel therapy for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome’ sponsored by DST-SERB, Government of India.
The lab follows the institutional policy of promoting consultancy and industry collaborations by involving faculty and research scholars in research-based activities and industrial projects to foster a healthy Industry-Academia Linkage. HRL provides consultancy and analytical services in the research areas such standardization of herbal drugs and medicinal plants, phytochemical and physicochemical evaluations, validation of chromatographic methods as per ICH and USFDA guidelines. The available expertise for services is popularized through participation in educational fairs, exhibitions, and National and International seminars and Conferences.
In recent years, herbal research lab has provided its services to many renowned industries such as Cipla Ltd, Ajanta Pharma, Sun Pharma, Pitambari Pvt. Ltd, and also to numerous researchers and students from Mumbai and across the country. With a strong Industry-Academia linkage and research culture, Herbal Research Laboratory becomes the main centre for assistance to students, faculty, and industrial partners which in turn ensures a constant communication and interdependence among the stakeholders.
