Molecular Biology Laboratory
The Molecular Biology Lab Facility, developed with support from DBT-BUILDER, DBT-IYBA, RUSA, and DST-INSPIRE, is a cutting-edge research environment equipped with a comprehensive array of advanced instruments. Among its key features are a PCR machine, RT-PCR system, and a Gel Documentation System, enabling precise genetic analysis. The lab also houses critical temperature-controlled storage with -20°C and -80°C freezers, ensuring the integrity of sensitive samples. Additional equipment, such as plate readers for both visible and fluorescence ranges, a UV-visible spectrophotometer, QUBIT for quantifying nucleic acids, and bath sonicators, facilitate a wide range of experiments. Essential tools for electrophoresis, including assemblies for SDS-PAGE and AGE, alongside an autoclave and high-precision water bath, further enhance the lab's capabilities, making it an invaluable resource for molecular biology research.
Microfluidics Laboratory
The Microfluidics Lab specializes in Lab-on-a-Chip (LOC) and Lab-on-Paper technologies, with a focus on developing portable detection systems. Equipped with microfabrication tools, clean rooms, and fluid handling systems, the lab is ideal for conducting innovative studies in both chip-based and paper-based platforms. The lab has a track record of success, producing multiple high-impact publications, and awarding two PhD degrees in this field. Additionally, several MSc dissertation projects have been completed, contributing valuable insights to the lab's research. Current efforts are directed towards creating affordable, paper-based, user-friendly detection devices, for point-of-control applications.
