Students Achievements


Competitive Exams:

Ms. Janhavi Sathe, IRS (TYBA History 2020-21 Batch) has successfully cleared UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022-23 and secured All India Rank of 127 and 7th rank in Maharashtra in the very first attempt.

Competitions, seminars and conferences:

  • Ankita Nair and Aadesh Shinde, TYBA History students, participated in a one-day National Seminar on ‘Transitions in Maharashtra in the 20th Century’ organized by Satara Itihas Sanshodhan Mandal and Department of History, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu College, Kolhapur on 8th October 2023. The research paper presented in the seminar was published in ‘Sanshodhan’, a Peer Reviewed Research Journal.
  • Shivani Chavan, Sanika Sawant and Geeta Patel of TYBA History were selected for Mumbai City Zonal Round in Avishkar Research Convention, organized by University of Mumbai.
  • Bhoomi Gujar from FYBA History has secured third prize in an Essay Competition on the occasion of the ‘Quit India Movement Day’ organised by the Department of History, V.G. Vaze College on 9th August 2023.
  • Yash More and Ankita Nair, SYBA history students won second prize at the Inter collegiate students Research Semina on ‘Formidable Forts: Silent Sentinels of India’ organized by the Dept of History on Feb 25, 2023.
  • Athira Patkar, Kiran Khochare, Asmi Aklekar, Sudarshan Joshi (TYBA students) and Nupur Pote, Neha Gayke, Ms. Shreeya Arvin Shinde, Devika Pednekar (SYBA students) presented research papers at 12th Annual National conference of Konkan Itihas Parishad on 17th Feb 2023 organized by Dept of History, S.P. Dnyanasadhana College, Thane and Konkan Itihas Parishad.
  • Three group of students of TYBA, History were awarded seed money research grant to pursue their research in September 2022 These students also participated in poster presentation at the Aavishkar festival organized by Mumbai University in December 2022.
  • Under the guidance of Prof. Louiza Rodrigues, 5 students of SYBA History are working on the Research Project and Exhibition on ‘A Homage to the Women of Western India (1890 - 1947) by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastusangralaya Museum (CSMVSM) Rs 5,30,000/- plus other expenditure in collaboration with Sophia College, Mumbai from July 2021 to May 2022
  • Athira Patkar won 2nd prize in quiz competition 2021 Enigma Zindagi organized by Poddar College, Mumbai.
  • Under the guidance of Dr. Louiza Rodrigues, a group of 3 FYBA students, Manas Kude, Tanishka Gaikwad, Kshiti Hegde won 1st prize in video competition on Harappan Maritime Trade org by Maritime History Society, 27 Nov 2021 on Kalasagar 2021 video making competition (cash prize of Rs. 6000/-)
  • Under the guidance of Prof. Louiza Rodrigues, Mihika Vengkar won the first prize in research PPT competition on Sidhudurg Fort and Chaitralee Kelkar won the second prize on Vijaydurg Fort in an intercollegiate PPT competition on 1st July 2021. Chaitralee also won the first prize in an intercollegiate research paper competition under the category Antique Furnishing in “Connecting Family : Heirlooms and their Significance” webinar organized by organized by History Dept. Kets’ Vaze college, Mulund Mumbai on 14th November 2021.
  • Under the guidance of Prof. Louiza Rodrigues, Chaitralee Kelkar, TYBA student of History won the first prize in the Annual Intercollegiate Students Research Seminar held on 8th March 2022 organized by Jhunjhunwala College, Ghatkopar, Mumbai . Her paper was on Yamunbai Hirlekar (1901-1985) and her contribution in Establishing Pioneering Women NGO, Sevabharti.
  • Under the guidance of Prof. Louiza Rodrigues, Ankita Nair, Piyusha Charje, and Devika Pednekar. FYBA, History presented a research paper on ‘The Lost Glory Sopara’ in one day National Conference, 11th Konkan Ithas Parishad organized by Dept of History on 24th October,2021 conducted virtually in B.K. Birla College, Mumbai. Another group of students, Siddhi Sanap, Samruddhi Ranade, Prerna Gandhat FYBA History, presented a research paper on Konkan Culinary at the same conference.
  • Nachiket Bhalchandra Paradkar and Krishna Dange from TYBA History, secured Consolation Prize as a team in Quiz competition in 52nd Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival organised by Department of Students’ Development, University of Mumbai held on 20th September 2019.
  • Nachiket Paradkar secured First Prize in Essay competition, Quiz competition in SAPTARANG, Inter-Collegiate Festival organised by Department of Marathi, Sathaye College, Vile Parle on 10th-11th January 2020.
  • Nachiket Paradkar secured Third Prize in Quiz competition in JALLOSH, Inter-Collegiate Festival organised by Department of Marathi, Sydenham College, Churchgate on 18th January 2020.
  • Krishna Pradip Dange from TYBA History secured First Prize in Elocution Competition held on the theme 'Corruption free India' organised by the Central Bank of India on 22nd August 2019.
  • Krishna Dange was selected for the State Level in Yashwant Shabdagaurav Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competition Zonal Round held at Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, Mumbai on 31st August 2019.
  • Krishna Dange ssecured First Prize as a team in Quiz Competition named 'Sahitya Yatri' organized by Dhruv Knowledge Society, Dombivli on 24th November 2019.
  • Krishna Dange ssecured Best College Prize as a team in Madhu Limaye Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competition organized by Kirti Dongurgusee College, Dadar on 8th January 2020.
  • Krishna Dange secured ‘Best Orator for the topic’ Prize at the Debate Competition in SAPTARANG Inter-Collegiate Festival organized by Sathaye College, Vile Parle on 10th-11th January 2020.
  • Krishna Dange secured First Prize in Quiz competition in JALLOSH Inter-Collegiate Festival organised by Department of Marathi, Sydenham College, Churchgate on 18th January 2020.
  • Ms. Hemadri P. Ludbe from TYBA History secured First Prize as a team in Quiz competition named ‘Sahitya Yatri’ organized by Dhruv Knowledge Society, Dombivli on 24th November 2019.
  • Aditi Shevade, Muskan Jain, Nishigandha Ketkar, Rushikesh Rane and Sammrudhi Yogi TYBA students of History jointly presented and prepared a video On Kyani & Co. Irani Café at The Kala Ghoda Festival organized by India Lost and Found: entitled, Mumbai through a Site Lens on 21st December 2019 Their video is put up on their Instagram.
  • Ms. Prarthana Puthran presented a Paper titled - Perception of Youth Towards Green Jobs: Issues and Challenges at the International Multidisciplinary Conference on 17 & 18 February 2020, Mumbai Organized by IDOL Mumbai University and KAASH Foundation titled- Sustainable Development in Mumbai- Issues and Challenges.
  • Ms. Prarthana Puthran presented Paper at Histeria Intercollegiate Research Seminar organized by R. Jhunjhunwala College Won Second Prize for presenting the paper titled- Analysis of Awareness about History of India paintings among Youth).
  • Ms. Prarthana Puthran presented a paper at National Seminar on Subaltern Movements in India organized by History Department, Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College Presented paper titled Analysis of Crimes against Dalit Women and Conviction Rate on 12 January 2020.
  • Aditi Shevade, Anushka Kelkar and Shreya Gole presented a paper on Shilahars in Bombay at the one-day multidisciplinary International Conference on Heritage and ongoing innovations: The Magic of Achieving Unrealistic Heights on 23 November 2019.
  • Rushikesh Rane presented a paper on ancient board games at Naneghat and Gandharpale Caves at the one-day multidisciplinary international conference on Heritage and ongoing innovations: The Magic of Achieving Unrealistic Heights on 23 November 2019.

Extracurricular activities:

  • Ms. Priya Surnar, Vaibhavi Sangale, Khushi Jagtap, Srushti Nijai from TYBA History and Sayali Kamble - SYBA History - Represented the college and reached to the Quarter-final of the Interzonal Kabaddi Championship organised by University of Mumbai on 22nd October 2023.
  • Ms. Bhakti Lahamge of TYBA History - Represented the college and won a Silver Medal at the Basketball Championship organised by University of Mumbai on 19th October 2023 and Represented the college and won 1st Prize at the SKREAM Tournament organised by K. J. Somaiya College on 25th January 2024.
  • Ms. Vandana Maruti Jathare secured Gold Medal in Open Sight Air Rifle Shooting under Inter-Collegiate Shooting Competition organised by University of Mumbai on 23rd October 2019.
  • Ms. Vandana Jathare secured Silver Medal in Air Pistol Shooting under Inter-Collegiate Shooting Competition organised by University of Mumbai on 23rd October 2019.
  • Ankita Nair, FYBA student of History was selected to participate in the online 21-hour training programme on ‘Building Digital Archives’ organized by the School of Cultural Texts and Records, Jadavpur University, funded by British Library’s Endangered Archives Programme Project 1300 held between October 25 and 29 Oct. 2021.

Awards and Prizes:

  • Ms. Priya Surnar of TYBA History-Political Science is awarded with The Srimati Yamunabai Hirlekar Prize on the College Day – Annual Prize Distribution on 3rd February 2024.
  • Mr. Shreyas Wakchaure from TYBA History is awarded with The Master Girish Iyer Trophy (Best Volunteer) on the College Day – Annual Prize Distribution on 3rd February 2024.
  • Ms. Muskan S. Jain, TYBA, has been awarded ‘The Shield of Honour’ on Annual College Day held on 25th January 2020.
  • Nachiket Paradkar has been awarded ‘The Vidya Bhushan Award and The Late Shri Kapoorchand Vardhan Silver Medal’ on Annual College Day held on 25th January 2020.
