Certificate Course in Archive Management in collaboration with the Godrej Archives

The Department of History has introduced a 2 - credit Certificate Course in Archive Management for the students of Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College in collaboration with Godrej Archives, located in Vikhroli, Mumbai. The course, conducted for a period of 4 weeks, includes lectures and practical sessions that aim to introduce students to archival principles, collection and records management, digitization and conservation techniques used to preserve objects in an archive. The certificate course is designed to give students hands-on experience in archive management. Students are assessed on the basis of assignments.


Certificate course on Heritage of Mumbai: Art Heritage

The Department of History conducted a 2 - credit certificate course titled 'Heritage of Mumbai: Art Heritage' in 2022-23. The course introduces students to various themes related to the history and heritage of Mumbai like iconography, food history of Mumbai, pottery making and art, colonial furniture, architecture of Mumbai, etc. through interactive lectures and field visits facilitated by resource persons with expertise in the respective fields. The 30-hour, 2-credit course was aimed at introducing students to several approaches of historical research to understand the evolution and development of Mumbai. The course had invited researchers, historians, professors and subject experts to speak on the existing research on Mumbai as well as to highlight the potential areas of future investigation.
