The seed of the Hindi Department of Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College was sown in the year 1938. Hindi Department of Ruia College was the first to get the permission to have Hindi as a special subject at B.A. level under University of  Mumbai. Prof. Jagdish Chandra Jain has been instrumental in laying the foundation. Later Prof. Narendra Jain, Prof. Bansidhar Panda, Prof. Chandrakant Bandivadekar, Dr. Devesh Thakur, Prof. Mukund Joshi, Prof.Ramesh Dalal and Dr. Dattatreya Murumkar have nurtured the department with their utmost dedication. Our college provides 6 papers at B.A. level in Hindi and is also a Centre for PHD affiliated to University of Mumbai.
Hindi department provides a platform to encourage students to explore, experiment, express and enhance their skills to be future ready. The department also contributes to the vibrant culture of the college by organizing National and international seminars and workshops which provides a platform for the students to participate, interact and inspire by the intellectuals, thinkers and critics in the field of Hindi. The department organizes Hindi Day celebration by conducting various activities such as essay writing, poetry recitation, extempore and story writing competition etc. The department also provides a platform for students to participate compete, interact and inspire across our country. Guest lectures are organized by the department to enhance the innate skills of the student. The department specially provides internship program to the T.Y.B.A. students with daily newspaper ‘NAVBHARAT’ and CENTRAL BANK OF INDIA.
