Brief Description of Department

The department has been established in 1937. The department was formerly headed by great Sanskrit scholars such as Prof. R.R. Deshpande, Prof. Mahashabde, Prof. G.A.Kulkarni and Prof.Dr.Alka Bakre. There are only five colleges in Mumbai University which offer Sanskrit as a Major subject at T.Y.B.A level,Ruia is one of them. The department has glorious history of university toppers at TYBA (sanskrit ). It is recognised as Ph.D research centre by the University of Mumbai. The department organises various Co-curricular and extracurricular activities .



The department offers B.A course with six units (Sanskrit) and also research center offers course for Ph.D .
